Wildlife Photograph of the Year was staged..

The 2010 Wildlife Photographer of the Year has been stripped of his award.

An investigation deemed that the wolf used in the picture was a “model” (think blue steel) and that the photograph breached competition rules.

The exhibition is currently running in Cape Town at the Iziko Museum (HERE).

“Louise Emerson, from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition office, said today: ‘It saddens us to confirm that after a careful and thorough investigation into the image, the storybook wolf, the co-owners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine have disqualified the winning entry of the photographer Jose Luis Rodriguez.'” [mail online]

They didn’t give him his £10,000 prize money either.

Shame.
